Big Rascal BBQ & Grille (BR BBQ)

We're sooo glad we stopped here! We were just passing through and needed a place to have dinner. We like BBQ because like who doesn't? I kind of chuckled at the pizza flag and thought "oh boy." Walked in and they greeted us warmly. We were seated and our server - I forgot her name but she has a pretty "Always Love" tattoo on her right forearm - welcomed us. She told us about the menu and what we would like and not like. We are ranch and French fries connoisseurs. I was really impressed with the variety of their menu. It offered legacy bbq items as well as creative fusion that you don't see at most bbq joints. So we landed on ordering lemon herb wings, the turkey bacon 'dilla, the smoked chicken chimmichanga, and for giggles, the brisket pizza because it did actually sound good. The sides we ordered were fries, sausage jalapeno mac&cheese, and green beans. 99% of it did not disappoint! We dug into the pizza when the food hit the table and then we realized we forgot to take pics!! So please forgive the presentation of the pizza. It was delish. The wings were smoked to perfectetion and well dusted with lemon herbs. The 'dilla was 'dilla'icious! The 'changa was so flavorful! In my heart I know I would have liked it more crispy. But it was smothered in beautiful sauces so I understand. The fries were meh. But you don't come to a BBQ/grill for their fries so it's ok. Dipping them in their delectable ranch made up for it. And their sauces! We used the fries to try them all! Sweet, spicy, mustard, white, you name it, they have it! The green beans were savory, tasty, and my husband wanted to drink the juice from the bowl! Last and definitely least, they have no business calling what they served mac&cheese. Where was the cheese? They might be able to rebrand that dish as maybe a pasta with sausage and jalapenos but it was hard to distinguish what the little brown flecks in the pasta was. Overall, it has now became a must stop at place when we are passing through. Run, don't walk, into this place to check it out because when you leave you will need to be rolled out!

Ribs were great! Brisket was tender and juicy! The collards were kinda of bland and the jalapeno Mac n cheese was a little dry. The mashed sweet potato was phenomenal and so was the fried okra with ranch! I would have liked to see our server again so I could get a second drink. Overall nice place and it got packed after we got there with lots of blue collar workers which made me happy to see!

Wow, came in for BBQ based on reviews and they did not lie... The staff are friendly and helpful and our waitress was great.. started with corn nuggets ( think of cream corn fried) yummy . We got the BBQ sandwich and I had slaw and french fries with mine.. the slaw was excellent, the fries were hot but after tasting the sweet potato mash I would definitely encourage that over fries.. my sandwich was lightly sauced and was the perfect size..I couldn't eat but half .. the star of the meal was the St.Lois Ribs.. we had a whole rack .. was definitely the best ribs I've eaten anywhere and being a Carolina girl I wasn't sure they'd compare but they did above and beyond.. we barely could eat a quarter of them and I promise we boxed all up after eating to take home.. I can't believe all our trips we never noticed Big Rascal, but now that we stopped here it will definitely be my favorite place to get BBQ on my many trips back and forth between Naples and Hatteras Island NC. I love the casual comfortable feel that you have here and prices were great.. if I could give 10 stars I would, they definitely deserve them, until our next visit.. Bon appetit!

Brisket sandwich with onion rings was absolutely amazing. The brisket was tender and the bun was soft. Basically melts in your mouth. My husband had the brisket tacos and he said they were great also. I haven't been disappointed yet with the food or service

Awesome experience. I wanted to set up a funky dinner as a gift for my husband, Jessica was amazing in helping me do that. I came in a few days in advance, ordered the entire meal, and prepaid for everything. She was super accommodating of my request and extremely helpful. I showed up on a Friday night, gave the little wink and we were seated immediately, all the food came out in order and my husband was floored at the experience. 10/10, from BR BBQ. Not only was the food amazing they were able to accommodate me and make an unforgettable memory. Thank you Jessica and team at BR BBQ!

We really enjoyed our lunch at big rascal barbecue! The wings were absolutely amazing, the brisket was really good too. We had sweet tea to drink, and it was brewed just right! Our server kept our drinks filled and actually came to check on us to make sure the food was to our liking. If you like BBQ this is definitely one of Ocala‘s hidden gems.

Stopped at big rascals for lunch, hostess recommended the brisket. Sat down in the dining room sweet tea was tasty. My food came and I was not disappointed. Brisket was nicely cooked poured barbecue sauce with some coleslaw on top. It was delicious, if you’re coming through Ocala enjoy the food at big rascals.

I am very particular about my brisket and this place has the best brisket I've had in a decade! All the sauces are to die for and make the meal fun! Every bite is a new experience.
